A burner email works like a prepaid phone: you use it for one job and then get rid of it. The idea is simple. Every website that has your real address can send you marketing, sell the address or lose it in a data breach. A burner address takes that risk instead.

    Burn it your way

    • Burn it now. Press Delete now and tap again. Everything is gone.
    • Burn it after the first email. Turn on Close after first email. Perfect for a single verification code.
    • Let the timer burn it. Pick 10 minutes, 1 hour or a few days. When time is up, the address is deleted.

Good uses for a burner email

    • Downloading a guide, a coupon or a whitepaper that is “free” in exchange for your email.
    • Joining public Wi-Fi in a hotel, airport or café.
    • Testing an app or a game before you decide to keep it.
    • Signing up to read one article or post a single comment.
    • Entering a contest you do not fully trust.

    When not to use one

Do not use a burner address for anything you will need to log in to again in a few months, like banking, work tools, health services or online stores where you keep your order history. If you lose access to a burner email, password reset links go nowhere.

Why you can trust the burn

Burned addresses are not recycled. We keep the address name in a blocklist so it is never handed out again, and the emails are deleted, not archived. Read more in how it works and in our guide to signing up for free trials without spam.

    Questions

    What is a burner email?

A short-lived address you use for one thing, such as a sign-up or a download, and then throw away. It keeps your real address off marketing lists and away from data breaches.

How do I burn the address when I am done?

Press Delete now and tap again to confirm. The address and its emails are deleted right away. If you do nothing, the timer deletes them for you.

Can a burner address close on its own after the first email?

Yes. In Change duration, turn on Close after first email. The address then closes 10 minutes after the first email arrives, unless you choose Keep it open.

Will a deleted burner address ever come back?

No. A deleted or expired address is never given to anyone else, so nobody can receive mail that was meant for you.
